It's official: Contents in today's mail from the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) revealed successful test results for the CMA (AAMA) Certification Exam that Marla sat for last June for the CMA designation, the gold standard of the medical assisting certification. It was interesting to read about the percentile ranks for the total examination and the three major content areas of the exam (i.e. General, Administrative, and Clinical) because they indicate the percentage of the reference group candidates who obtained scores lower than Mar's, reinforcing a unique sense of accomplishment that demonstrates so well, the fruits of her labor. For example, in the General content area, Mar's percentile rank based on reference group was 99; this means that 99% of the reference group candidates had scores lower than her on the General items. Similarly, Mar's percentile rank for the Clinical content was 98; this means that 98% of the reference group candidates had scores lower than hers on clinical items. Lastly, Mar's percentile rank for the Administrative content was 93; consequently, 93% of the reference group candidates had scores lower than hers in that area. So all in all, Mar's total examination percentile rank was 99. Thus overall, 99% of the reference group candidates had scores lower than Mar'sl. On behalf of all those who know and love Mar, we thank you for participating in her evolution and giving her the strength to reach for the stars!
