In a Zen state-of-mind

About Me

My photo
In what is often considered a very complicated world, I lead a pretty simple life - purposely so. Somewhere in the pockets of its pants, I hope to make a positive difference with my actions and the good intentions which fuel them.
Welcome to my place in cyberspace. I created this blog as a forum for those near and far. I apologize for its impersonal nature, but in this quintessential, modern-day world rife with ironic technology, this forum seems to be a viable, (though hardly ideal), alternative for some form of communication when time factors conflict. As you kick back here, I hope you enjoy your visit; but keep in mind that no progression in technology can ever replace my yearnings for a more personal exhange. In the meantime, let's toast to you and your family's health, hope, and happiness. Thanks for letting me share with you.

Friedman Family Reunion

Not long ago, our Uncle, Glenn travelled with his wife, our Aunt Debbie, and met up with our Aunt Nancy, and their children, Jennie, Dan, and Laura, along with their spouses, Michael, Jessica and Michael, respectively, and their children's children, Michelle, Kaitlyn, Megan, and John Zacharias, for what turned out to be an incredibly special and forever cherished Friedman family reunion. The circumstances are mysterious to few and we wanted to honor the beautiful memories they created during that time with this photo. Note that this photo in particular does not include all those other family members who were present and instrumental to its coordination, however, there are many other wonderful photographs that can be retrieved through Jen's family blog. Stay strong, Glenn, and know how very much you are loved.

Thinking of Uncle Jim This Week

In the midst of all the current ebbs and flows taking place with certain cherished family members and friends of ours, we just wanted to let everyone know that we're all thinking about our dear Uncle Jim too. He is a soldier through and through and we know his strength of spirit will meet the loving support of his devoted wife, Jeanne, loyal daughter, Jackie & all his other family members & friends to help see him through what may have been a very challenging week. His look-a-like grandson, Maddox, sure provides quite the motivation. All our love and best wishes for a successful, longlasting outcome.

Maddox, Future Football Extraordinaiire....

Maddox reigning in the Bears' season home opener in style....

This little fella is a real romeo too. We saw him yesterday at his Mom's surprise 30th birthday bash and he didn't hesitate in sharing my cousin's limelight!! How adorable he is. In the spirit of sweet and special Maddox, may our Bears have a successful, exciting footballl season!!!

No more bruises for Dina!

As most of you know by now, Dina's recent career change is going very well. Naturally, we're escatic about it because her safety and health are better protected and her opportunities encompass more promise. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our friend, Cindy, for lining up the lead because the bout of bruises and other injuries D would sustain in the line of duties involved with HVAC installing were just getting plain old. Not that D ever complained. Her work ethic and passion for what she does is second to none. It was just a matter of good timing. And it was time for a change. Now D feels lucky for the new opportunities she is receiving to engage her cerebrum and drafting skills for Auto-CAD sales in a large and highly reputable alarm and fire detection company. She absolutely loves it and we couldn't be more grateful. The irony is that now, she dresses "up" for work. Before this point, however, if you know D, this was never a priority or a positive experience for her like it was for her best bud, Mar. As Mar puts on her scrubs and pouts about how "dumpy" and unsexy they make her feel, D gets all slicked out in her sporty shirt, slacks and shoes with her famous dimpled-grin. We can't tell you how many times we've laughed over this role-reversal issue!! At any rate, things are going very well for D and we hope they continue to as the remaining days unfold. Thanks for sharing your interest and enthusiasm for her good fortune!

Passion for People Accessing Health Care

http://www.dailyherald.com/story/print/?id=234660

It's official: Contents in today's mail from the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) revealed successful test results for the CMA (AAMA) Certification Exam that Marla sat for last June for the CMA designation, the gold standard of the medical assisting certification. It was interesting to read about the percentile ranks for the total examination and the three major content areas of the exam (i.e. General, Administrative, and Clinical) because they indicate the percentage of the reference group candidates who obtained scores lower than Mar's, reinforcing a unique sense of accomplishment that demonstrates so well, the fruits of her labor. For example, in the General content area, Mar's percentile rank based on reference group was 99; this means that 99% of the reference group candidates had scores lower than her on the General items. Similarly, Mar's percentile rank for the Clinical content was 98; this means that 98% of the reference group candidates had scores lower than hers on clinical items. Lastly, Mar's percentile rank for the Administrative content was 93; consequently, 93% of the reference group candidates had scores lower than hers in that area. So all in all, Mar's total examination percentile rank was 99. Thus overall, 99% of the reference group candidates had scores lower than Mar'sl. On behalf of all those who know and love Mar, we thank you for participating in her evolution and giving her the strength to reach for the stars!
