Grace in Adversity

Some of us are lucky to have people in our lives who inspire us to become better people or who simply demonstrate the true meaning of humanity. My uncle, Glenn, is a special person - an Angel among us, those in his circle and even those on the periphery, who puts the "human" in that word. Now is a good time to share with you, how truly and tremendously cherished he is. Many in my circle know that trials of the human spirit are very personal. If you ever see or speak with Glenn, you would never know how truly trying his trials are, He faces challenges like a warrior. There is not a moment that goes by that I am not in awe of his bravery or his positive and humorous perspective on things. He encounters things that take him through every range of human emotion that anyone could ever have in their lifetime, and he does it with an unparalled dignity. The way he lives his life speaks for itself. Simply speaking, I am, like many others in my circle, in awe of him. He inspires me and my family in unparalled ways with his unwavering courage, constancy, kindness, compassion, integrity, selflessness, thoughtfulness and unconditionally loving nature. Countless times, these virtues or other exceptional characteristics could have gone by the wayside - and understandably so, because that can be the unintentional and undesirable consequence of human suffering. However, throughout it all, he has remained true to to his true nature and in copious ways, he has retained all these admirable qualities and taken them to a new level without compromise. He is teaching me that no matter how challenging life can be, the vicissitudes of life can never smudge your true soul which for my Uncle Glenn, happens to be truly pure and unspeakably beautiful. Glenn, I hope you know how much we love you - exceedingly so, and how truly a remarkable person and inspiration you are. Thanks for being our Angel.
